About Yi

Hellooo, I'm Yi! I started designing during my undergrad at UC San Diego, where I started designing at the Don Norman funded Design Lab. I worked on some projects with people living with diabetes. That experience opened my eyes to what user experience design truly means, understanding people’s lives and co-creating better ways to support them. I enjoy helping people through design and make impact.

I love what I’m doing, product design it lets me do what I love most - connect with people, observe how they interact with the world, and continuously iterate on ideas that make their experiences better.

When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me watching Morning Brew and Business Insider on Youtube, or journaling, or people watching around NYC.

Inspired by my brother: why storytelling is at the heart of my design.

I have a little brother who’s only 10 years old. He loves reading books and picks one up whenever he can. There are many different genres..but all the books are trying to tell a story, and that’s what draws him in!

That is how I realized how powerful storytelling can be. It’s not just about words…it’s a way to communicate design and align business goals with stakeholders.

Give me the opportunity for an interview, and I’ll show you how I use storytelling to bring my designs to life. 😜
